What it is
It happens on buy-and-sell websites and apps such as OLX, a popular Brazilian marketplace. As a buyer, you pay for a product that never arrives. As a seller, you receive a fake receipt or a link that imitates the platform and asks for your bank details. The conversation almost always moves from the app to WhatsApp, precisely to escape the platform’s protection.
How it works
- We analyze the ad, the conversation and the path of the payment.
- We check links, fake sites and the accounts that received the money.
- We cross-check the seller’s details with other profiles and incidents.
- We organize the evidence for the platform, the bank and the police.
What we will need from you
- Link or screenshot of the ad (even if it is already offline)
- Screenshots of the conversation in the app
- The WhatsApp chat, using the "Export chat" option
- Links received by message or email
- Payment receipt and details of the receiving account
- The seller’s username on the platform
- Date of the deal and amount
- Boletim de ocorrência (police report), if you have already filed one
We never ask for passwords, verification codes or access to your accounts.
