Case 11 · Online fraud

Fake delivery scam

Messages about a held package or delivery fee that lead to fake payments.

What it is

You get a text, email or message saying a package is being held or that a fee, shipping charge or tax is still due. The link leads to a page that imitates Correios (the Brazilian postal service) or a courier and charges an amount by Pix or card. Often the page also stores your card details for future purchases.

How it works

  1. We analyze the message, the link and the fake page.
  2. We trace the domain, the hosting and the account that received the payment.
  3. We guide you in contacting your bank or card issuer.
  4. We put everything together in a report for the police report and the refund request.

What we will need from you

  • Screenshot of the message, with the sender’s number or email
  • The link you received, copied as text (do not open it again)
  • Screenshots of the page where you paid
  • Pix receipt or card statement showing the charge
  • Date and time of the payment
  • Boletim de ocorrência (police report), if you have already filed one

We never ask for passwords, verification codes or access to your accounts.
